Now That We're Going...

...it's time to get busy raising some money and getting our immunizations! I've spent a great deal of time over the last several days researching different types of fundraisers that would help us to bring in the funds necessary for our trip. I've also researched to see what types of immunizations we will need before we can go to Africa. Let's just say it's a good thing I'm not afraid of needles, because there will be plenty of them. Matt on the other hand? He might be in some trouble. =)

Here is what we've come up with so far on the fundraising side of things:

  • Selling car washes - one of our good friends is an assistant manager at an Autobell and has hooked us up with their fundraising program. As a small group, we are all selling car washes and will split the profit four ways.
  • Support Letters - we've written a letter and created a prayer card that we'll send out to family and friends. This was a little hard to do, since it involves asking people for money in order to help us get to Uganda. I'm definitely not one to ask for money in any way, so this was slightly out of our comfort zone. But, we're stepping out on faith that God has already prepared some hearts to give and we'll wait and see what He does through these letters. If nothing else, people will at least know what to pray for!
  • Hot Dog Fundraiser - this one is still in the works, but is tentatively scheduled for April 30 from 11:30am - 1:30pm. It's a family fun day/cookout kind of thing. We'll be selling plates for $5 each and will also have a bake sale going on. Plates will consist of two hot dogs, pasta salad and a drink.
  • Other ideas include bowling and a yard sale.
Oh, the checklist that's in front of us...
